About Aaron Loo Aaron's love of music is demonstrated here on his CD debut L.A. Attitude. He performs all the keyboard parts and has done all the sequencing, engineering and mastering. The music represents the journey Aaron has taken from playing drums in a garage rock band in Hawaii to his landing in Los Angeles as a producer/composer. Aaron's composing and arranging style includes rock, R&B, jazz and classical.
Aaron played drums in Ollie Mitchell's big band in while doing casuals in Hawaii. Aaron later majored in arranging, percussion and film scoring at Berklee College of Music. Aaron left for New York to attend Manhattan School of Music for graduate studies. He was a percussion major but switched to composition after realizing that composing was his calling. Aaron studied with John Corigliano and was inspired by John's sonic orchestrations.
Aaron became a close friend with jazz drummer Akira Tana, they both studied with Alan Dawson. Akira used to rent a room from Aaron to practice and teach drums. Aaron ran a recording studio in his apartment on Broadway; he recorded his own music and also recorded Jimmy Heath and Kenny Baron. Akira introduced Aaron to jazz bassist and producer Teruo Nakamura (Cheetah Records). Aaron programmed the sequencing and was the assistant engineer helping to record New York's finest jazz musicians.
As a producer Aaron has his ears open to every style of music and as a composer he reaches for feelings that has touched him and others. He is thankful for all the experiences and possibilities life has offered him. He is constantly amazed at how technology has become such an important part of the tools needed to create music. Aaron hopes to encourage and inspire the younger generation of musicians, as he was once so fortunate enough to have studied at the feet of the masters. Aaron's recording studio is based around his Macintosh computer; using the latest technology to create his music. Aaron's arsenals of new and vintage synths are the paints he uses to color his canvas of music. This is also Aaron's debut as a rapper; he couldn't find a rapper who would do it. Aaron's composing and arranging style on the CD L.A. Attitude represent the rawness of rock, the sophistication of jazz and the colors of classical. Each song that Aaron wrote was a challenge to himself both as a composer and as a listener. Aaron would constantly ask himself if the music would touch his heart or make his soul jump for joy. Aaron wants everybody to get up and shake it up all night with The L.A. Attitude. That wasn't an earthquake you just felt... |
